Each year, AACAF screens short films and documentaries and hosts workshops with the Chinese American Film Festival. These events feature Chinese culture at various universities across Southern California. These documentaries typically cover an array of cultural themes from Lunar New Year traditions to caretaking habits for pandas in Chinese zoos to calligraphy and more. During the annual Chinese American Film Festival in November, young filmmakers from the East and West are gathered together to communicate, share and learn from each others’ films and expertise. The 2024 CAFF Roundtable was a 3-hour workshop that featured 10+ filmmakers from each side and 6 short films which gathered together 100+ professionals and students at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
